What makes this recipe; a low salt Pizza Recipe?

You may wonder why we chose these specific ingredients for our low-salt pizza. Let’s break it down.

At first, we selected all-purpose flour for pizza dough making rather than using casual pizza dough, as it contains less sodium. Secondly, we suggested baking powder instead of instant yeast to eliminate the need of salt in crust.

Olive oil has many health benefits over regular vegetable oil or traditional pizza dough ingredients such as butter or margarine. Olive oil has been used to add a nice flavor to the crust. Additionally, oregano was used instead of salt for seasoning.

One of the important and main factors that that contribute to the high sodium content in traditional pizza is the toppings. This is why low-salt mozzarella cheese, fresh vegetables, and a small amount of proteins were used as topping material. Vegetables not only visually impact the color and texture of the pizza but also provide essential nutrients and vitamins to make the dish more nutritious and tastier.

You can add any fresh vegetable of your own choice but avoid canned or pickled vegetables as they tend to have a higher sodium content. Grilled chicken, fish meat or turkey peperoni are thinner and have less sodium compared to other options such as sausage or cured meats.

Moreover, herbs and spices are the key to use for a flavorful low salt pizza rather than salt for flavor creation. This recipe also enhances its importance as we recommended garlic and oregano to add depth of flavor to the tomato sauce than using regular pizza sauce. Basil, rosemary, or red pepper flakes can be a good option to find your preferred combination.

This recipe is also worthy because it customizable to fit various dietary restrictions. Gluten sensitive can use substitute flour like rice flour or some other gluten-free options. For Dairy restrictions diet you may choose vegan cheese as for toppings.
